(Re)-Breathing Stage-1 Report
Six of the best turned up to be tuned up on Saturday’s first session of the three-part series.
Steve, Neuralign Leader, unleashed an introduction on the group fitting of a university lecture, well he’s done that in the past too at the likes of Monash and Victoria Universities, so it was fitting.
Steve is not some wobbly personal trainer fresh from the academy d’institute d’fitness. He is the academy!
Not to mention he’s been seen driving automobiles around racetracks at insane speeds or descending mountains by bicycle at 100kph, well that’s a different story. Back to the context.
Round 1
Turned out, twisted, buckled, contorted, rolled, kneaded, no we weren’t making bread. That was just the first hour of undoing years of postural habits that disturb the body’s natural mechanisms for breathing.
Rollers, hard rubber balls, mats, walls, sun rays, we had it all.
And then we breathed. Really breathed.
Benchmarks were set to create a way of detecting changes over the following weeks of prescribed homework and Steve’s sessions.
As the diaphragm became more engaged, flexible and mobile, the winces and pain-faces subsided into a semi-trance like aura.
After an hour and fifteen minutes, it was over, just like that. Where did it go? Timelessness ensued, just like any mesmerising freediving session.
FOMO? Feel like you’re missing out? There’s still two sessions left in the series which you could slide in on. YOLO.
Can’t wait to hit the water again in a few months with these buddies!
See you in the water! Til next…
