I’m happy to be returning as President this year and am keen to continue the thrust of freediving development and participation in this fine part of the world.
My warm welcome is extended to the new members of the committee and sincere thanks to the Officers who are continuing their posts this year.
Behind an NFP
Running a not-for-profit freediving club is not without it’s challenges. There are resource constraints in time, funds and people. We seek to keep costs as low as possible balanced with providing quality services and value for members, but we are hindered sometimes by the dark perception of the sport. There is the task of managing access to sporting venues and sustaining an exemplary safety record for a high-risk sport. It’s not your typical situation!
The Year Ahead
In the year ahead we aim to continue growth of the activities available for members, including:
- weeknight local shore dives during summer
- monthly weekend social dives
- bi-monthly events at the College Lawn
- formal coaching opportunities and,
- a new easier to navigate website and membership applications process.
More announcements are set to come as the new team settles in.
I encourage you to take the time to learn more about the team behind the club, as they really are your voice for how the club and freediving develop.
If you’re happy, we love to hear that, if you’re unhappy, we need to know that too. Always feel welcome to speak with us individually in strict confidence or email us with queries, feedback or suggestions.
Outgoing Committee and Office Bearer Roles
We express our utmost thanks and gratitude to the outgoing hardy freedivers that committed their time, energy and passion to setting us off on a steady course in the first formal year of operations. It’s because of our volunteers that we’re able to function as a club and the reason why we’re able to provide services to the freediving community.
Secretary – Sergei Stadnik and Paul Mulholland
Treasurer – Brett Solomano
PR Officer – Luna Lita
Now that they’ve offered their place to newcomers, no doubt we’ll see them more regularly in the water!
Thank you to our supporting membership base for continuing to further the development of freediving and create a well connected community of freedivers. Stay safe.
